Principal- Dr. Twyla Barkley

Dear Luella Elementary Families,

Welcome to an exciting new school year at Luella Elementary! I am Dr. Twyla L. Barkley, and I am honored to continue serving as your principal. As I begin my fourth year leading this incredible school, I remain grateful for the opportunity to partner with our students, families, staff, and community.

For me, education is more than a profession; it is a calling to inspire, empower, and positively impact the lives of students, families, and educators every day. Throughout my career as a teacher, instructional leader, assistant principal, and principal, I have been committed to creating learning environments where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. These experiences have shaped my leadership, but it is the relationships I build with students, families, and educators that continue to inspire me every day.

This school year, our theme, "Reset • Release • Rebuild: Building Our Future Together," reminds us that every new beginning is an opportunity to grow. Together, we are continually building a school community where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

At Luella Elementary, we believe that our greatest success comes through partnership. Together, we will cultivate a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where students are encouraged to think critically, lead confidently, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our commitment is to provide high-quality instruction while ensuring that every Lion Cub knows they are seen, supported, and celebrated.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. I am excited about all that we will accomplish together and look forward to celebrating the many successes that await us throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

It is truly a privilege to serve this wonderful community.

With gratitude,

Dr. Twyla L. Barkley
